The absence of drinking water supply networks to
provide this resource to Peruvian families is a latent problem, in
addition to the topography in highland areas such as Cajamarca,
where water sources are located at lower elevations than the localities
or social groups that require water to meet their needs. In such a way
the research work aims to analyze the implementation of the
ecological water hammer for the impulsion of drinking water to the
town of Pueblo Nuevo in the district of San Bernardino, province of
San Pablo - Cajamarca, proposing as a viable solution to this
problem, the use of ecological water hammer pumps. This research
work has a descriptive exploratory scope; a functional prototype of a
ram pump with recycled materials was developed for a sample of 33
families in the area where the project is involved and 1 study unit,
knowing that the area to intervene is a population expansion of the
same locality that does not have drinking water service. The results
have made it possible to determine the amount of spring water, with
a flow rate of 0.5 l/s, used to supply the town, knowing that the
population is rural and in accordance with the Peruvian Technical
Design Standard: Technological Options for Sanitation Systems in
Rural Areas, it corresponds to an 80 l/inhabitant per day, for a
sanitation system with hydraulic dragging; which makes a total of
10560 l/day. In the first test with an inlet difference of 3 m, an amount
of 14058 l/day, in the second test with a difference of 8 m an amount
of 38880 l/day, up to the fifth test with a difference of 18 m an amount
of 87480 l/day. It was determined that the project is viable since it will
be able to supply drinking water to the locality, satisfying the need in
its entirety, as long as the correct manufacture and installation of the
accessories of the ecological ram pump is carried out. We noticed that
the results are optimal from the first test, but being conservative it
was decided to opt for the maximum water flow. A direct cost of S/
1487.50 soles was obtained for construction costs of the ecological
ram pump, water pre-filter, conduction and impulsion network;
having as final analysis that it is a profitable project in the long term
despite the fact that the operation of the ram pump itself has a waste
of 30% of water generated by its operation, but it becomes an
important waste, since it keeps alive the ecosystem under the spring
that provides drinking water.
