The objective of the research was to determine the efficiency of municipal solid waste management in the Cajamarca region, as stipulated in Law No. 27314-General Solid Waste Law. The approach was qualitative, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design, having as population-sample the 13 provinces of the Cajamarca region: Jaén, San Ignacio, Chota, Cutervo, Cajamarca, Celendín, San Miguel, Contumaza, Cajabamba, Santa Cruz, San Marcos, San Pablo and Hualgayoc. Among the results, it was found that the critical aspects that hinder the implementation of the Solid Waste Management System by the provincial municipalities of the Cajamarca region, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 27314, are because they do not have an environmental technical team (92%)., they do not have workers specialized in solid waste (92%), resources are not allocated for compliance with the Comprehensive Environmental Management Plan (100%), there are no mechanisms to charge for public cleaning services (92%) and the environmental management unit has not been implemented (100%); In addition, there are two sanitary landfills in the Cajamarca region. Therefore, it is concluded that the state of municipal solid waste management in the Cajamarca region in application of Law No. 27314 is deficient.
